Charles Fadel, founder of the Center for Curriculum Redesign, discusses the evolving role of education in an AI-driven world. He argues that rather than focusing solely on how teachers can use AI, we should reconsider what students need to learn. He outlines four key dimensions of learning:

Knowledge – While AI will surpass humans in factual knowledge, students must still build broad conceptual and epistemic understanding to engage meaningfully with AI.
Skills – Creativity, critical thinking, communication, and collaboration remain essential for applying knowledge effectively.
Character – Traits like curiosity, resilience, courage, and ethics will be crucial in navigating an AI-driven world.
Meta-Learning – The ability to reflect, adapt, and engage in lifelong learning will be key to staying relevant as AI capabilities expand.
Fadel emphasizes that while AI can mimic human creativity and decision-making, it lacks true imagination and emotional depth. Therefore, education should focus on nurturing uniquely human strengths, ensuring that students can leverage AI rather than be replaced by it.
