Most Popular Music Styles 1950 - 2025

These are the most popular music styles or music genres since 1950. These music genres are only a fraction of all the music in the world so the numbers shown are relative only to the genres shown. These numbers are based on sales and streaming and does not take into account bootlegs and music played live or by DJs. I sourced these from Billboard, Google Music Timeline, and my library's databases. Note that music interest is very erratic with a whole genre being pushed up all of a sudden by one popular song, for example A Bar Song by Shaboozy or Despacito by Luis Fonsi. Also, I did not use sub-genres because I would need to show 50 bars or more to show the data.

Creating the music for this video was really fun, but it did add an extra week to it's release, I really hope you enjoy it. I will be publishing the songs in my royalty-free music channel (which I had abandoned), the links will be posted below:
