In this bar race I look at the consoles that sold the most games, it showcases the total number of games sold from 1977 to the present day. Using data sourced from VGChartz, Fandom.com, business database and insights from numerous Reddit comments, I've compiled approximate calculations to fill in any missing numbers. Watch as we journey through the evolution of gaming, highlighting the best-selling titles for each console era.
In this animation, you'll see a visual representation of game sales over the decades, complete with a preview of the most popular game of the year shown. The king of sales was the Sega Master System as it sold close to 20x game units as the number of consoles sold, 18:1, I don't really trust those numbers, but they were high across multiple sources. Maybe that high ratio was reported in order to attract more game developers. Normal sales ratios were 5:1 up to 12:1.
