Pierre Poilievre to run in Alberta byelection after MP resigns

Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre is heading west — announcing plans to run in an upcoming Alberta byelection after losing his Ontario seat of Carleton.

The move brings excitement to some in the Battle River-Crowfoot riding, particularly in Camrose, while raising eyebrows and concerns for others.

MP Damien Kurek, who has held the seat since 2019, is stepping aside to allow Poilievre the opportunity — but says he plans to run again in the next general election.
