On this cold clear winter morning, I am taking a freezing snowy walk in Japan. Today, I’m in the beautiful town of Higashikawa, in Hokkaido (東川町北海道). Higashikawa is a lovely small town near the city of Asahikawa, near the center of the island of Hokkaido. My virtual walk on this beautiful morning starts on Tohashi bridge over the Chubetsu River, near the center of town. It is so cold this morning that there is a lot of steam around the river, and it is so clear, I can even see Asahidake, the highest mountain in Hokkaido, in the distance! This morning, people are going about their business in this quiet, pleasant town, and the snow on this cold winter’s day makes the town look so lovely. It’s such a nice place for a relaxing walk!
