Along Brazil’s Vermelho River, giant otter pup Rio and his siblings leave the safety of their den for the first time. They’ve never been in the water before, but over the next few months they need to become expert swimmers, capable of catching their own dinner, while avoiding hungry predators that roam the river. The narrowly escape an ambush from a mother jaguar and her cub. Later, his parents go toe to toe with a caiman to save Rio’s life. Along the way, he learns that teamwork and family are the keys to survival for giant otters.
